Worship with Dance

The Hora Medura

The name "Hora Medura" means Campfire Hora. It was choreographed by Ashriel Yoahv. The dance is called the Campfire Hora because it was written as a Lag B'Omer dance for around that holiday's campfires.

For the entire dance, hands are held out at about head height, palm-to-palm with neighbors.

Each numbered step takes four beats of music.

Part A

  1. (facing inward) Sidestep R-together-R-together (i.e., R-L-R-L)
  2. (facing inward) Again sidestep R-together-R-together (i.e., R-L-R-L)
  3. (facing inward) Step into the circle R-L-R-L
  4. (facing inward) Step back out of the circle R-L-R-L
         [repeat]
Part B
  1. (facing inward) Mayim L (starting with R foot crossing in front of left foot)
  2. (facing LLOD) Step R-L-R and then hop onto L foot
  3. (facing inward) Mayim L (starting with R foot crossing in front of left foot)
  4. (facing inward) Standing in place stomp R heel, pause, stomp R heel, pause
         [repeat]
A very common variation changes step 6 into four steps R-L-R-L done facing LLOD while crouching down ("going under the bridge").
